Destiny 2 Raids and Nightfall Will Have Matchmaking… Sort of
Over the years, Destiny 2 has seen a lot of content come and go from new expansion quests to other activities more for the cooperative or competitive crowd. However, one criticism that Bungie has never been able to shake is the fact that not every mode in the game comes with matchmaking capabilities. In fact, most of the more difficult activities such as Raids and Nightfall Strikes are notoriously limited to premade fireteams , forcing solo players to venture outside of the game to find other players to join. With new content and quests pushing players to take part in non-matchmaking activities, players have once again begun to voice their opinions on how to fix this concern. Instead of simply asking Bungie to simply turn on matchmaking for things like the Nightfall or legendary Sundial, one Destiny 2 player on Reddit has proposed alternative ideas to keep the spirit of the powerful activities but open it up for more players to take part in. While Raids are a different beast entirely, requiring heavy team communication to progress, these ideas are more geared towards the Legendary Sundial. The mechanics are essentially the same as the normal version not requiring a heavy dose of team play.

‘Destiny 2′ launches Guided Games matchmaking for high-level raids
However, the studio has finally launched its Guided Games feature for raids and Nightfall strikes in Destiny 2 , which allows one or two solo players to match up with an organized clan group of four or five players. But players using the feature are having some problems, and those issues show that Bungie was right to be apprehensive about matchmaking for so long.

The Division 2 is about to launch its massive eight-player raid, the first in franchise history. Unfortunately, the raid will be missing matchmaking capabilities, which is a pretty important feature for an online PvE mode. Without matchmaking, The Division 2 players will have to join the Dark Hours raid with a pre-made team. As any primarily solo player can attest, trying to form an eight-person team for an online activity is notoriously difficult. No there is no matchmaking, you have to team up through clan lists, their friends lists or by inviting other players in the game social spaces before you launch the raid.
The news comes from Ubisoft marketing team member Alexandre Guenounou, who revealed on Twitter that “there is no matchmaking” for the upcoming The Division 2 raid. Instead, players can team up through clan lists, friends lists, or manually inviting players from The Division 2 social spaces. Players already upset by the news have pointed out how The Division 2 supports matchmaking for literally every other online instance. Whether it’s for the Darkzone, bounties, or another online component.
Ubisoft Massive itself promised matchmaking “for every game activity and difficulty level” back in February before the launch. The Dark Hours raid is the first raid in the entire Division series. Ubisoft has been building hype for the raid since launch, and featured it prominently in its year one roadmap for The Division 2.
There Is No Matchmaking For The Division 2’s New Raid
Raids, Nightfall Events, and Trials will be available to all players in Destiny 2 through matchmaking. During the reveal event, Bungie explained that it was a miracle that some of the tasks in Destiny were completed, which included the Raids and Nightfall Strikes. But these toughest challenges also required that you team up with people you knew or met online, in other words there was no matchmaking for Raids or Nightfall Strikes. This left many players going to LFG forums to face some of the best content that the game had to offer.
